Commerce Connection: How Lisa Brown breached the safety of homeless children

Posted 11 October 2023

“Some of the names belonged to young adults who were sleeping in their cars. Others were pregnant high schoolers. Some became homeless after fleeing domestic violence, or being kicked out of their homes.

Nearly every name logged into the datasets came with a wealth of sensitive, deeply private information: Full name. Birthdate. Current housing status. Gender identity and sexual orientation. Sometimes the data included health information about pregnancy, mental health, addiction.”

The Crosscut July 27, 2023 investigation story WA homelessness group exposed sensitive data on kids, young adults, that begins with the above, also reveals,

“A few clicks through online data dashboards run by A Way Home Washington, one of the state’s most prominent homeless youth advocacy and support organizations, allowed unrestricted access to dozens of different fields of private information on hundreds of young clients who were homeless or close to becoming so.

A Way Home Washington and the Washington Department of Commerce, whose Office of Homeless Youth works closely with A Way Home Washington, are now investigating what happened.”

On August 9, 2019, shortly into her tenure as appointed Director of Washington State’s Department of Commerce, Lisa Brown released,

“This funding will strengthen communities throughout the state – from Asotin to Walla Walla, Grays Harbor to Okanogan and beyond – by providing an assurance of stable housing to help every young person in Washington seek their full potential,” said Lisa Brown, director of the Washington State Department of Commerce.

Among other grants, Brown touted the Commerce contract with …

“Through the Anchor Community Initiative, seven service providers received $3.7 million in funding. The initiative is led by A Way Home Washington, which aims to support services to prevent and end youth homelessness and specifically targets Pierce, Yakima, Walla Walla, and Spokane counties.”

When will “mainstream” media expose Loophole Lisa and her Trifecta-two-stepping merry band of bedlam makers? Wasn’t her Half-a-Billion dollars in bad audits enough?

Will Brown’s exposure of our most vulnerable children finally be enough for the “press” to take notice?

Any one of Lisa Brown’s scandals would have sunk a typical campaign. Is the Spokane news media under the spell of Galfridus? Or, are they immune to the decades-old body of work BS that is Brown’s continued crazy train campaign?
